An Appalachian tradition is now available for you to order online.  We scoured the internet for local recipes and techniques so that we could bring the authentic flavors and aromas of Salt Rising Bread to you.  This bread is traditionally made with a potato and corn meal starter, which captures wild bacteria that ferments the dough.  The natural bacterial fermentation leads to a slight cheesy aroma and flavor.  For those who have never had this treat, we liken it to an asiago cheese bread.  The loaf is yellow in color, dense, with a crusty exterior.

Salt Rising Bread is traditionally served toasted.
